Chris Berger heads enterprise communications at Atrium Health, the largest integrated non-profit health system in the southeast US with 42 hospitals and 1,500 care locations. Throughout the pandemic, Chris has elevated the organization’s public image, bringing its leaders and medical experts into the national and local conversation, educating the public about COVID-19 safety, and shaping public policy to help ensure equity in access to care. Using his social media acumen, he has turned Atrium Health leaders into recognized influencers whose commentary is now in high demand.
Chris’ communications team is not only responsible for external media relations, social media and content journalism, but also reaches more than 70,000 Atrium Health teammates with strategic, informative internal communications. Under his leadership, his team consistently leads their division in employee engagement.
Prior to his time at Atrium Health, Chris served in senior communications roles for Walmart, leading large-scale change while communicating to more than 2 million employees. He also has experience in the government, banking and financial services communication sectors.
