An exciting new voice in roots music, Elle Winston takes her training in classical technique and introduces it to her love of folk, blues and jazz traditions. Born in the midwest, raised in the southwest, and currently based in Brooklyn, NY, her story is anything but linear. With lyrics that cut through the noise and colors ranging from a whisper to a scream, witnessing her live and listening to her storytelling are moving reminders of the urgency of American music.
Elle released her debut album The Buy Back in 2017, as well as EPs, Who Said It Was Simple? in 2011 and Uncertainty in 2013. Most recently, she released the single Stand Up Straight, a timely ballad about justice and the pursuit of freedom.Throughout her career, she has opened for a diverse range of artists, including Gil-Scott Heron, Carl Thomas and Joan Jett. She has been a featured artist at the historic Apollo Theater Music Cafe and has been actively touring nationwide at notable venues such as The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles; Valley Bar in Phoenix, AZ; Ace Hotel in Chicago, IL, and National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY.
